Every year field days are organized in the southern of Xayabury and in Xieng Khouang to promote exchanges between farmer groups, extension officers, agronomists and private sector.
Eight countries (Vietnam, Yunnan Province of PR China, Cambodia, Thailand,Cameroon, Madagascar, France and Lao PDR) were involved in the regional workshop on Conservation Agriculture that was held in Phonsavan from 28th of October to 1st of November 2008. During the same time an agriculture fair and national exchanges days, involving representatives of farmer groups, educational sector, private entrepreneurs and DAFOs, were also organized. A workshop concerning the constraints and challenges in scaling-up Conservation Agriculture in Lao PDR had been held at NAFRI headquarter, Vientiane on 14th of July 2009. A national workshop was held in Vientiane (Lao PDR) on Monday 20 & Tuesday 21 July 2009 to dicuss how to integrate agro ecology in agricultural education programmes in Lao? The workshop was organised by the Sector based program in Agro ecology (PROSA), under the auspices of the Ministry of Agriculture & Forestry (MAF) and the Ministry of Education (MoF). 39 participants were attending the workshop. They were representing the 4 Faculties of agriculture (Nabong, Luang Prabang, Savannakhet & Champassak) and 8 Colleges of agriculture (Vientiane (2), Luang Prabang, Phonsavan (2), Paksane, Savannakhet & Pakse).The workshop agreed about common definition of Agro ecology, Conservation Agriculture & Direct sowing on cover plants. Faculties agreed to strengthen the agro ecology teachning as a full and specific part of the education cursus.
