Regional Workshop to create the Conservation Agriculture Network in South East Asia (CANSEA), Vientiane 29-30 September 2009
The French Centre de Coopération Internationale en Recherche Agronomique pour le Développement - CIRAD and the Sector-based Programme in Agro ecology (PROSA) of the Ministry of Agriculture & Forestry of Lao RDP will organise on Tuesday 29 & Wednesday 30 September 2009 in Vientiane, Laos, a regional workshop to create the Conservation Agriculture Network in South Asia - CANSEA. Research & Development institutions which conduct R&D programmes on CA in the South Esat Asia will be invited (Cambodia, China (Yunnan), Indonesia, Lao, Thailand, and Vietnam). Together they will be asked for officially create the network and to define its regional objectives, programme, work plan and agenda. More precisely the workshop will have to define the network structure (status, organisation, operationnal functioning), to appoint a Regional Coordinator, to identify R&D priorities based on both national &  regional interest (each country will lead a regional theme for which he has a comparative advantage). CANSEA will be a non-profit structuring organisation. Network Members will agree on: i) sharing on experiences and results; ii) the definition of regional priorities and the design of corresponding research programmes; iii) the development of synergies within the region for CA promotion & development; and iv) the search and mobilisation of funding to implement regional initiatives.
